It’s not hard to imagine Tom Segura bragging about killing the crowd at his latest comedy concert. But what if he is being literal? I’m not personally accusing the comedian of murder, although Cracked may have insinuated in the past that he’s a sociopath. One TikToker is going further, connecting the dots and suggesting that Segura could be the Lady Bird Lakes Killer.
At first blush, it’s easy to dismiss the online sleuth as a shit poster. But let’s follow the yarn connecting the thumbtacks on his online wall to see where it all leads. (Imagine spooky conspiracy theory music as you read the clues — it helps, trust me.)
Segura Records His ‘Ball Hog’ special in Austin, Texas
In the fall of 2019, the comedian recorded his latest Netflix special. The taping went poorly, according to the video. “The crowd wasn’t laughing,” says the narrator, “and the lack of energy, you could tell, was getting to Tom.”
A Disappointed Segura Fan Goes Missing
One person in attendance was 21-year-old Christian Pugh. “What he didn’t know was that he would be doing a lot more than watching a bad comedy show,” the narrator maintains. After the taping, Pugh headed to a nearby bar “to drink away his disappointment.” It was the last place he’d be seen before he was reported missing. Three days later, Pugh was discovered in the bushes off a bike trail by Lady Bird Lake, roughed up and in critical condition.
A Series of Disappearances in the Area Coincides with Segura Moving to Austin
Pugh is one of 12 men who have gone missing near Austin’s Lady Bird Lake since 2022. Segura moved to the area in late 2021. Coincidence?
Segura’s Career Goes on the Downslide
After the move, per the video, Segura was faced with declining sales and dwindling podcast listeners. He appears visibly angry on his podcast, and he “often discusses murder and many dark topics.” Has he been confessing all along?
“Why is it that Tom Segura is seen by so many crimes?” the narrator wonders. “Is it possible that Austin has a new serial killer on its hands?”
Segura has weighed in — well, sort of. He’s discussed the missing people around Lady Bird Lake on podcasts, dismissing police reassurances that there’s no foul play involved. Yeah, right! Of course there’s a murderer! Comedian Tim Dillon points the finger at the mysterious Smiley Face Killer, which would be a great name for a comedian assassin. Whoa.
Sure, Segura doesn’t confess here. But note that he doesn’t exactly proclaim his innocence either. The next time Segura brags about killing at another comedy set? He might just be telling us what TikTok knew all along.
