Other countries have their own film industries, but nothing beats Hollywood, and no matter how liberal California gets, that’s always going to be one patriotic town. That means the rest of the moviegoing world just kind of has to accept a certain level of exceptionalism with their summer blockbusters. Sometimes, it’s not as overt as all that, but there’s an unmistakably American attitude baked into a movie. If it involves blowing up a usually inhuman enemy, for example, that’s probably only coming from one place on Earth.
For Redditor jakroois, these kinds of movies are a fine way to ring in another year for America. “Not much going on today for me, but I wanted to celebrate America’s birthday with something patriotic,” they explained to r/Movies over the recent Fourth of July holiday. They then asked, “What is the most American movie ever made?” and their fellow Redditors help wrap all of them in the good ol’ red, white and blue.
